BBB # 3 Race

The Briars Badlands Battle is the second MS State Championship race of the year. I was really going to use this race as just a training race...but when I saw that Kuppersmith was there, I knew that it was going to be on!

Not a huge turnout but we had 5 guys in my class so a small group. Went in the singletrack in 3rd position and moved around the fella in front of me after about a mile...and from there, I was chasing Kuppersmith...he was about :15-:20 seconds in front on me...the backside of this course is really open so I could see him most of the time, then after a short downhill I ran up on him. He said he wasn't sure if he was going right...he took a wrong turn on the last race we did...so from that point we roe together.

He asked me towards the end if we would roll the finish line together...I told him it was his, then he said he wanted me to take the V and he would push me across the line...I thought...OK!

It was hot...real hot...here are a few pics.

The chase was on...

B RAD was really hot...

Love the cowbells....worth the pain 4 sho...

Past few race weekends...

Last few race weekends have been a blast. Bump and Grind is a race that I look forward to ever year and is always one of #1 races of the year bar none. I thought I was ready this year for a top 3ish finish...didn't quite go my way.

The weekend got started Friday night as we rolled up to Oak Mtn State park to set up for the weekend. We got there around 11p and just grabbed the first camp site we found...

ended up being a good spot...trees on one side then we had Max's new camper as the other wall...

we woke up normal time and went ahead and got our pre ride on...

This trail is always fast and fun...

We got to hand with some good friends from Oxford and ate another dinner...might have been one of the problems.

Sunday was fun never the less...had a good start and solid first lap, around 1:11, then pushed a little too hard thru the transition area, feed zone, which I missed my feed, and first half of the 2nd lap...runnin about 3-5 place until the half way point up the back climb...um, could you say no power...HR was low, power was low, I was really hot with chills...no good! Got my shit together after the climb and manged to pull two guys back on the downhill and then move on around them and gap them but the damage had been done...finished 8th out of 16 with a RT 9 minutes slower than last year and 11 slower than my personal goal...
